Links, Appearance, Tools not showing up in dashboard?
-
I have hosting on GoDaddy and installed their WordPress application. Then I discovered the difference between wordpress.org and wordpress.com, and wanted to use wordpress.com because I want to purchase one of its themes. So I created a wordpress.com account and followed the directions to export my .org account into my .com account. I got as far as saving the XML file. When I logged into my .com account to import it, there is no Tools menu, no Appearance, no Links, etc., on the left navigation bar – only Dashboard and Profile. I’ve looked everywhere. I’m not sure if I inadvertently disallowed myself from being a site administrator, because I can’t figure out what’s going on. Please help!

I’m not sure I have one. The only blog that shows up in “My Blogs” in the wordpress.com Dashboard is the http://kristinaurquhart.com one. When I try to enter the URL kristinaurquhart.wordpress.com, it doesn’t work, but that’s the username I registered with.

OK –
kristinaurquhart.com/ – is still hosted not here and seems to be an empty blog (probably on Godaddy) –
kristinaurquhart.wordpress.com – is reserved for you but does not exist yet – I can’t remember how but you need to create that blog – should be able to do it from your log in here (where you are now) – with a create blog drop down or “My Blogs” from your name in the upper right corner of the browser window
Your kristinaurquhart.com/ has a different log in from here
Once you create a blog here you can map kristinaurquhart.com to a blog here using the instructions below

Ah, got it. Just missed that step then. I created the new blog and all the navigation items are there on the left now. Will domain map too. Thanks so much for your speedy assistance!
