Lock website

  Hello!
  If we’re creating a website through a theme, would we be able to lock the website so people need to log in before being able to access the website? or do we need to code that?

  To do so you must upgrade to the Business Plan as you need plugins.

  Staartmees is incorrect here. I suspect they are thinking of a setup where you want people to pay for access to your site content. In which case, yes, you would need the Business or eCommerce plans to access plugin options:

  But for just a basic site that allows you to limit access, you can set your site to be private and “invite only” by using the instructions here:

  https://wordpress.com/support/settings/privacy-settings/
