Locked out of website
-
Hi there, I have been locked out of the admin of our website. I went to change my password one day and it must not have worked as the security locked me out. We have an IT person who helps with the management and hosting of the site however he has struggled to work out what the issue is. Would someone be able to send me a password reset or something so I can access the admin of the site? This site is a small business website and I am the only one who knows how to login and edit it so it has been stressful not being able to log in. Thanks so much for your help!

Hi there!
Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com, so we won’t be able to help you regain access to it.
We can, however, recommend checking out this article on how to reset a password to a WordPress site:
https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/.Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites hosted elsewhere; we can only assist with sites hosted on our servers. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com here:
https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/.http://wordpress.org/support/ is also a great resource for sites using the open-source WordPress.org software.

Hi there, thank you for getting back to me and sending all that information. Sadly went I go in and request a password reset link via email, I never seem to get the email – would you know why this is?

Hi there,
As staff-mckluskey mentions, protectionsolutions.co.nz is not hosted here (wordpress.com) and is instead hosted at Crazy Domains.
It’s worth pointing out that the version of WordPress Crazy Domains uses is different than what we offer on WordPress.com. We use a custom version of the platform that also has a custom login system that is different from what your site uses.
Because of this we’re not able to help directly, but the good news is that as long as you have access to the server control panel through Crazy Domains web hosting, it is always possible to regain access to your self-hosted WordPress site. This WordPress.org Codex article will walk you through it: https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/
You can ask Crazy Domains web hosting support for direct assistance in completing the steps in that article; they would be in the best position to help.
Hope that points you in the right direction!
