Locked out of WordPress.com account – verification emails not arriving
-
Hi,
I’m hoping someone can help as I’m currently locked out of my WordPress.com account.
My domain is aroundandaboutcroydon.co.uk. The domain is registered with GoDaddy, but the DNS is managed through WordPress.com.
When I try to log in, WordPress.com sends a verification email to my account email address ((email visible only to moderators and staff)), but the email never arrives. I’ve checked spam/junk folders and requested the verification email multiple times.
The bigger issue is that I am not receiving any emails at that address, not just WordPress emails. Because I cannot receive the verification code, I cannot access my WordPress.com account, and because I cannot access my account, I cannot check or update the DNS settings that may be causing the email problem.
This has left me unable to:
- Access my WordPress.com account
- Manage my domain’s DNS settings
- Receive verification emails required for login
I am the owner and administrator of the domain and can provide proof of ownership if required (such as domain registration records or Google Workspace account information).
Could a member of the WordPress.com support team please advise on the best way to regain access to my account or provide an alternative method of verifying ownership? I’ve completed the recovery form over 24 hours ago and have yet to hear back from someone (I’m also on a paid subscription)
Thank you for any assistance.

Hi.
NOTIFICATION: I am not a WordPress support tech, this is not an official reply.
I was just poking around the forums and checked into your issue. Here are the details you need to know:
1) You MX record doesn’t exist, which means email has no way to route to your mail servers. Reference link: https://dnschecker.org/all-dns-records-of-domain.php?query=aroundandaboutcroydon.co.uk&rtype=ALL&dns=google
2) This means you are now in a permanent catch 22 situation (just as you described) and your only option is to directly contact WordPress support on this page: https://wordpress.com/support/contact/
Your best bet would probably be to use the “Recover your WordPress.com account” option to start the process.
Let me know if you find that helpful. -
One more suggestion, when you get into your WordPress account, set an alternate recovery email with a global provider like Gmail or similar so that you don’t risk the same catch 22 situation.
I know you know, but friends help friends stay out of trouble.
