Log in problem to /admin-wp

in 2016 I created a WordPress site (Butterbelly theme) for my new consultancy and used and edited it for about six months, then set it aside for another position in 2017. Now I’d like to update the site but cannot access it. I can log in successfully to the WordPress.com site, but cannot log into my own website itself using the /admin-wp extension. The system refuses to recognize either the username I use to long into WordPress.com or the email address associated with my consulting website. Any suggestions?

Hi there, I don’t see any website associated with this account you are posting from in our forums. What’s the address of the site you need help with? From your description it sounds like it’s using the open source WP software rather than being hosted here on the WPcom platform.
Have you tried contacting your web hosting provider for assistance? If they say this is a WordPress problem, you’ll want to head over to https://wordpress.org/support/ where you’ll find documentation and users who have more experience with the software you are using. If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums you can register one on the top of that page.
