Hello I am quit happy so far I am figuring if I want to set up on a plan which is suited for me , I would like to know that each time I try to log in I am directed to my email for the link is this because I am not on a plan

This behavior is not related to the fact that you have a plan or not, but instead is meant to provide you a convenient way to sign in to your account without needing to enter (or remember) your password.
Instead, when you try to access your account we offer to send you a “magic login link” that you can click on in your email to log you in securely.
If you wish to turn off login links to log in with your username and password instead, visit the WordPress.com login screen and use the Lost your password option. This will send you a password reset email that you can use to log into your account and set a traditional password for.
The next time you log in, you will be presented with the option to enter your username and password instead of the login link option.
