login

Why can I log in to WordPress but not my actual site? Every time I get as far as My Site and ask to see it, WP makes me log in all over again, and then maintains that there is no such user (when I put in my email address). What’s going on? (And why does ‘Contact Us’ go to a public forum where they outsource their job to the ‘community’? And why do they call themselves Happiness Engineers when WP is making me ANYTHING BUT happy right now??)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Are you trying to reach your site via WordPress.com/Jetpack? What happens if you try to log in at https://portraitwriting.com/wp-admin/ with your BlueHost credentials? If you have forgotten your password have you tried the reset password form at BlueHost where that site is hosted?

Thank you for trying–that’s the place I’m trying to log in, and I’ve tried my wordpress username, my BlueHost username and my email, and I definitely haven’t forgotten my password–even immediately after sending an email and resetting the password, it will NOT let me log in–claims to not even recognize my email address, despite that it then sends password reset instructions to that address.

Hi @carapcs, you mention Bluehost and for that self-hosted installation of WordPress, your username and password would be different from the one you have here at WordPress.com. Typically when you set up your site, you will set a username and password for that particular installation.

I see you have Jetpack installed on your site and connected, and that means you should be able to log in here at WordPress.com and access your self-hosted site. Is that where you are seeing the second login come up when you click on that site in My Sites?

In the first paragraph, I’m meaning to say that you have two login options. One is to log in directly at your site via the username and password you chose when you installed WordPress on Bluehost, or as I mention in the second paragraph, you should be able to access your site after you log into WordPress.com with Jetpack active and connected.
