Hello, I am having trouble logging in to my site. It allows me to log in to wordpress and see my profile, but when I try to go to my admin page to write a new post for my website, it says ‘please check your primary site’s Jetpack connection.’ Then when I try to log in on the next screen that comes up, it says my password and username are incorrect, even though they are both right. When I try to reset my password, it does not email me with a reset link, so I am not sure how to log in.

I don’t have a site linked to this WordPress.com account

  • Hi @jensul16, could you send a link to the affected site?

Also, are you using its wp-admin address to log in with the correct username and password there? You’d also need to use that to reset if needed.

    The website is jensul.ca

I think I am using the correct address with the right username and password… unless there is something I am missing.

  • Hi there,

    Hi there,

We can’t help directly because we don’t host jensul.ca on our WordPress.com managed hosting. As a result we don’t have the ability to take a closer look at your site.

Instead your host (GoDaddy) uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com. Specifically we use a custom login system on WordPress.com (for enhanced security) that also helps prevent this kind of lockout from occurring.

The good news is that as long as you have access to the server control panel through GoDaddy, it is always possible to regain access to your self-hosted WordPress site. This WordPress.org support article will walk you through it: https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/

You can ask GoDaddy support for direct assistance in completing the steps in that article; they would be in the best position to help.

Hope that points you in the right direction!
