login credentials not working

About a week ago I got an email saying that there were multiple failed attempts to login to my blog admin site, and when I tried to login today my credentials did not work and the attempt to reset the password got me the message that the email associated with the account is not recognized.

Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with GoDaddy.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
