Logining into my old website
-
Good afternoon,
I have just taken up the position of looking after my companies website and have been trying to login, with no success – my username is : cornishbright, and the password I had was: [redacted by staff]. the login page kept telling me the password was incorrect and needed updating I did this two times with no success, it just kept telling me the password was wrong and needed updating. I was then sent an email to our Cornish bright email address (redacted) welcoming me to wordpress.com and clicked on the link ‘Activate Account’ as I assumed this would take me to the back of our original website, but it hasn’t, its created a new wordpress.com back page with no front end linked. I do not want a new website I need to get into the back of our old website. the domain name is registered with 123reg. Also if I google Cornish Bright it comes up in google but then the link goes to ‘page unable to load’.
I have very little skill base with website building so please advise as best you can.
Kind regards,
Hazel Holland

Hi Hazel –
Please update your password on the account since it was mistakenly made public when this post was published in the forums. Remember, that no one from WordPress.com support will ever ask you for your password. You should never give those details to anyone.
What is your company’s website? Can you share that URL with me, starting with https://. I’ll look at the details of the domain and help get things straightened around.
magnoliaoak – Thank you for tagging this thread! As a good double check system, it is helpful if you also add the tags referring to the details that need redacted. This way, when Staff are reading through the thread they can use the tags you’ve added a double check to make sure all the information has been handled. Examples, “remove phone number,” “remove address” etc… Let me know if you have any questions about that.

Thanks to you both – the Cornish Bright website is: http://www.cornishbright.co.uk
Thanks again,
Hazel

Hi Hazel,
It looks like you have a self-hosted WordPress.org website, which is different from a WordPress.com site.
You can learn more about WordPress.com vs WordPress.org here: https://wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
These forums are for WordPress.com sites only.
You can find WordPress.org support documentation and forums here: https://wordpress.org/support/
