logout button for password protected pages
-
I want to offer users of a password-protected page the possibility to logout of that page (other than asking them to manually remove cookies).
I found this thread https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/log-out-button-for-password-protected-pages/?replies=2#post-1945275 but it is from 2014. Has anything changed in this respect, or is this still not possible?
Thanks for your help!

According to this support guide, the only way still is by removing cookies. https://wordpress.com/support/post-and-page-visibility/#password-protected

Thanks for the reference. That is a pity. Also this part bothers me:
When an image or other media file is added to the content of a password-protected page or post, the file can still be indexed by search engines. It can also be directly accessed by visitors without a password.
So, by knowing/guessing/stealing the URL of those media files, these media are open to third-parties…
Is better protection possible, that anyone knows of?

On WordPress.com below the Entrepreneur plan, which gives you access to plugins, the only other option is to make your entire site Private and invite people to view it. https://wordpress.com/support/privacy-settings/#private
