Long delay after email change request

  • Unknown's avatar

I sent a request for an email change 5 days ago but it hasn’t happened yet. How long does this usually take?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It doesn’t usually take that long. Please check in your email client spam/ junk mail filter as well as your “social” tab in Gmail, if you use it. I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Thank you timethief. I did receive an email but it asked me to reply only if I did not want an email address change.

    Dear user,
We recently received a request to change your email address from xxxxx to xxxx.
If this request was not made by you, please respond to this email immediately.
If you did make this request, you can safely ignore and delete this email.

    Regards,
    All at WordPress.com

Will you please tell us which username account you are changing the email address for? Will you also post the new email address here for Staff please? The software will redact ie. HIDE the email address so only Staff can see it.

I’ve just received another email from them as I replied to the last one and clarified the situation. Is that good enough? If I post something here, I’m worried it will immediately go live.

Do you see the correct email address at these two spots i will link to below?

You can update your email address in your Account Settings, or in your Personal Settings under Users → Personal Settings in your dashboard.

If you see the correct one there’s nothing more for you to do. If you don’t then read http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/#issues-changing-your-email-address

I just checked and the old address is still there, “notifications, not published.” I’m getting notifications about comments at the old email address, (the one I want to change) and not the new one.

I read all the posts and all they do is take me back here and nothing gets resolved. I had an issue the other day about an email address on another site I was trying to delete. You tried to help me with that one as well but in the end, all pages led back here and it wasn’t resolved, so I just gave up. It was a waste of an hour of my life…and I do know a bit about websites etc. but WP sometimes drives me crazy.

Not to worry as Staff will help sort this as soon as they can. Please be patient while waiting.

Thanks, I will try. It’s not like I’m asking how to add widgets or PHP…that I can do. I’ve done everything correctly on my part to get a new email address.

I read the link about an email address change not sticking, but I don’t think there is another WP site with that address. There was one a while ago, ( a paid site) but it has since been abandoned.

Staff respond to threads tagged for their attention in chronological order in accord with datestamps on the threads – first tagged – first served, as would be expected. Every time we post here into this thread we move the datestamp forward in time and that means it takes longer to get Staff help. It’s in your best interest to stop post and wait patiently for Staff to respond.

According to a notice on the site, WP sent an confirmation to the new email address. I think the recipient (NOT me, but the person I set up the website for) never replied, hence the address has remained unchanged. Now, they are unable to locate the confirmation notice. *sigh*
If WP would be kind enough to resend another confirmation, I will ensure the recipient replies. Or I will close their site altogether. Thank you.
(My other email issue is still unresolved but I know that’s another thread.)

    Hi there,

You can resend that email confirmation by deleting the pending email change and re-entering the email address you want to change it to. That’ll resend the confirmation email to the new address so that person can confirm the change.

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that!

Hi there, Thanks to everyone at WP for their perseverance on this issue. I thought this might be a solution and your suggestion verifies it. It might also solve another email issue I have. I will try it and let you know…knowledge is power.

One issue resolved…followed instructions from rachelmcr and will try to do the same with the other site. Thanks to all :-)
