Loss of followers

  My follower count is suddenly down from over 300 to 99 in a day and I haven’t posted anything in four days, let alone anything controversial enough to lose so many followers so fast. Could it be anything technical?

  Hi putzybear,

  A drop in followers is due to disconnecting your Twitter account a couple of days ago. The number displayed in the “For more stories” widget is generated from a combination of WordPress.com followers and social media services connected to your site through Publicize — these people are counted as followers because they can see your timeline.

  I hope this helps explain things.
