Lost access to email

  I used my middle school email address to create a blog many years ago. The email address was then recycled and given to someone else (I suspect a person from my past who began showing stalking tendencies). Now all my ‘password reminders’ are sent to this person when I try to access sites like WordPress. I have documentation of this from Microsoft support indicating the e-mail address was recycled. Is this enough? I’d like to use the domain I originally created.
