Lost access to my email and wordpress username; don’t remember the URL.

    Hi,
    My problem is that I had a blog where I posted two or three times. It was going to be about myself, a Catholic gay guy with unwanted same-sex attraction.

    I can’t log in because I don’t remember my username and I can’t get it back because I don’t have access to my email at that time.

    Is there any way I could at least find out the blog in any search engine? I remember those details:
    – I introduced myself as Mike on the blog
    – I said there that I’ve got unwanted same-sex attraction and that I’m Catholic
    – one of the posts had a title ‘milk with honey’ I believe and it had a photo of milk in a mug

    Help please! I don’t need to have access to that blog but I’d at least like to be able to copy my previous posts.

    Hi @jeekjeekk, did you make the site here on WordPress.com as a free site? Do you remember anything else about it?

    Your guess would much better than mine in search engines, since you’d recognize what you wrote. But you can try searching for those terms, looking for the years when you would have written the posts, your old username, etc. This may help too: https://www.google.com/advanced_search

    I wanted to note, too, you’d likely be unable to recover account access if it was a free site and the email is gone, unless you kept old emails (and it sounds like you did not.) More info here:

    But if you find the right site, you can copy your content over to the new one.

    Yes, it was free. I understand that I might not be able to regain access to it and that’s OK but I’d really like to get access to the content though. I can’t find it looking through googlesearch. So the questions would be then,

    1) Would I be able to ask WordPress to tell me the name of the website affiliated with my previous e-mail address?
    Or
    2) Would I be allowed to log in using my e-mail and password as opposed to my nickname and password?

    We aren’t able to reveal which sites are attached to which email addresses.

    Oh and yes, you can log in with either a username _or_ an email address, both will work.

    Thank you macmanx for your replies. I appreciate the time you and supernovia have spent on trying to help me solve my problem so far.

    The problem is that I am getting, ‘Please log in using your WordPress.com username instead of your email address.’ when I try to use my previous e-mail address, i.e. (email visible only to moderators and staff)

    I can’t really figure out why that’s so, is it a bug. In short, the website won’t let me type in the password without my username.

    Ok, there is a bit of extra security since that account hasn’t been used for 2 years.

    Are you sure you can’t recall the URL of the site?

    No, sir, I’m not gonna be able to recall the URL address.

    It could have been something along the lines of ‘catholicgayguy’ but I really don’t remember is. I sort of start to recall that I had skyscrapers in the photo background, so I might have used a metaphor of having high hopes but I’m not sure if this memory is even correct.

    In conclusion, things I know for sure are:
    – one of the posts had ‘milk with honey’ in its name
    – there were up to 3 or 4 posts there
    – I guess I introduced myself as Mike
    – I was using words/expressions such as: gay, homosexual, Catholic, SSA, unwanted same-sex attraction

    All I would really need at this point is the URL address to that website and I’d be happy or the opportunity to log in using my email address…

    I’d be really happy if either was made possible for me.

    Do you remember the username? You could try searching for that. You’re also free to just keep guessing site names based on the key words you mentioned above.

    No, neither do I remember the username nor can I find the website using the tags or key words. Does it mean I lost it then? Won’t I have the opportunoty to log in with my email address made available?

    If you believe you have the correct email address, please email passwordhelp[at]wordpress.com from that address, and provide the information you do have. Then someone from our account recovery team will be in touch to verify your ownership of the account.

    But here in the forums there’s nothing more we can do at this point.
