Lost site

    Hi, I’m wondering if there’s a way to restore my WordPress site? I was trying to migrate it to a new domain and it’s gone now. I had an XML file but apparently it’s incomplete. Is there anything you can do?

    Hi there,

    We can’t help directly because we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed business hosting. As a result we don’t have backup files for your site or the ability to take a closer look at your site.

    Instead your host uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com. We do have full and complete backups for sites we host here directly, but do not have backups for sites you have through other providers.

    Have you reached out to your host to see if they have any internal backups they can restore your site to? If so I recommend contacting them as they are in the best position to help. Thanks!
