Lost site?!

  Hi there, so, I was attempting to switch my domain to another website/provider but wanted to keep a WordPress version of my original site. I took out my domain (leannemacardle.com) and put in leannemacardle.wordpress.com instead, just to see if the domain was a possibility, but it instantly threw me out and now it’s saying that the site doesn’t exist! Is there any way to get it back or have I lost it forever?

  Hey there, you’d be welcome to register https://leannemacardle.wordpress.com — just go to that link and you should see an option to register that name.

  As for your leannemacardle.com site, it’s with another host currently. They don’t own the .wordpress.com domain, so changing it on their side won’t work. Can you ask them for help changing it back? This article has some tips:

  Great thanks, I’ve registered the name and was hoping to import my old content to this domain. Is there a way to do that when the old site isn’t working? I wanted to stick with the free version rather than get a hosted plan. My leannemacardle.com domain is in the process of being transferred the new provider and I can’t access the WP admin page as I accidentally took out the site URL!

  If there’s any alternate URL you can use for the site (like temp357289.whatever.com — most hosts can give you a temporary address), one of these options will work:
  https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-the-site-url/

  When you’ve fixed the URL so you can access wp-admin again, you’ll be able to use these steps for importing the site:
  https://transferto.wordpress.com/self-hosted-wordpress-org/

  Just be sure to use the “import content” option rather than the option that has you import your plugins and theme and whatnot. That will allow you to stay on a free site.
