  Hi,

  I have a WordPress site that I use for my blog. This same site is linked on my website, which is not associated with WordPress. I’m wanting to add the MailChimp Plugin (as outlined here: http://wordpress.org/plugins/mailchimp/installation/), yet it’s unclear where or how I can locate the plugins directory?

  Hi there, it isn’t possible to install third-party plugins on WordPress.com – that’s a feature of self-hosted WordPress sites only. You can learn more about the two different types of WordPress sites here: WordPress.com and WordPress.org

  Mailchimp provides a standalone signup page for each list that you can link to within a post, page, or text widget. If you need any help setting that up, just let me know and I’d be glad to help.

  Okay, this is helpful. To confirm, since the blog is hosted on WordPress.com, the plugin cannot be added?

  I do think I could use some help setting that up. Ultimately, I’m wanting to have those who follow through various means (e.g. website, blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) funnel into one single list.

  That’s right. No plugins can be added on WordPress.com

  I do think I could use some help setting that up.

  Sure! First thing you’ll need to do is find the standalone signup page for your MailChimp list. Once you have it, paste the link here and we’ll take it from there.

  Great! Now you can add a link to your signup page from a text widget, by dragging a text widget to your sidebar under Appearance > Widgets:

  https://jillian4justice.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php

  The code you’ll paste into the text widget could look something like this:

  <a href="http://jillybeads4justice.us7.list-manage2.com/subscribe?u=69bd9e020b097d524c6d38f1d&id=fcaa8b8896" target="_blank">Sign up for my newsletter</a>

  If you don’t want the form page to open in a new window/tab, just remove this part:

  target="_blank"
