Maintenance Mode

  I really need to be able to put my blog site in maintenance mode while I change themes, archive some items and alter the focus of the site. Setting the site to “private” is certainly a work around but not an acceptable one at all.

  If WordPress doesn’t allow this on sites they host I either need to move it or switch off of WordPress altogether.

  Please tell me I am missing something and that there is a way to put the site in maintenance mode while I make the changes.
