    Hi there!

There’s no easy way to make your theme unresponsive. You could technically go through the entire CSS of the smaller media queries and set up custom CSS to match the desktop version, but that would be rather painstaking.

Is there a particular reason you think the responsive theme doesn’t work for your site? If you need to move something, or resize things, we can probably do that with custom CSS.

Let me know if there are changes we can make that would make your responsive site more to your liking!

on blogs like http://www.heynataliejean.com for an example you can view it on your phone and still see her sponsors and her categories so easily, if I was sponsoring someone I wouldn’t want to be at the bottom of the page.

does wordpress.com offer any templates that aren’t responsive? thank you so much for your help!

I see what you mean there. There isn’t an easy way to search our themes for non-responsive ones since responsive themes are generally better than non-responsive ones since they’re cross platform. Most of the themes that aren’t responsive are older themes like these:

    Matala
    Greyzed
    Chunk

And here’s a link with the announcements for the themes we released in 2011. These themes will mostly not be responsive:

Currently, you could add the same sort of content to your Primary Sidebar widget area and they would display next to your content in tablet view and above your content in mobile view.

It looks like you’ve enabled the default mobile theme, which does not allow you to do this. I would suggest turning off this off through Appearance > Mobile. Once that setting is off, your site’s responsive theme will appear instead of our standard mobile theme.

Please be aware that we do not allow banner image ads here at WordPress.com. Affiliate links and sponsored posts are allowed as long as they fit the content of your site and your site is not mainly for directing traffic towards those affiliates. If you require this type of advertising, you may be interested in setting up a self hosted WordPress.org site. Here’s some information about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org:
