When my friends leave a comment on my on it does not seem to be public so we can’t discuss this. Is there anyway to enable this so that they can leave a comment for discuusion?
so far I have the following checked:
    settings –> discussion
Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article
Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks)
Allow people to post comments on new articles
Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks)
Allow people to post comments on new articles

    pls help. Thanks

    Hi,

There are other settings which may be preventing immediate publishing of your friends’ comments. See, for example, the “Other Comment Settings,” “Before a Comment Appears,” and “Comment Moderation” sections of the the Discussion Setting support page.

Hi. Thanks for the response. Yeah I dealt with those. I made sure that the person leaving the comment didn’t have to leave their email. I made sure they don’t need to be s registered user. Made sure that it doesn’t automatically close. I made sure that it doesn’t need to be approved by me. The rest
Is blank. Could it be a theme issue?0

Allow people to post comments on new articles

That’s fine for new posts, but doesn’t enable comments on previously published posts. Neither do any of the other settings at Discussion Settings. Have you changed the comment settings between the first and second post? If so, has anyone tried leaving a comment on the second post? Have you tried leaving a comment on either post?

If you changed the “Allow people to post comments on new articles” setting after the first post was published, then you’ve got a little more work to do to enable comments on the first post. Be thankful at least that you don’t have hundreds of posts to go through enabling each one separatately, which is what WordPress presently requires for previously published posts. They apparently don’t want to make it easy. See the Enable and Disable Comments for Published Posts and Pages support page.

Also please note that the title of the Enable and Disable Comments for Future Posts and Pages support page should be changed, because after a recent policy change checking the ““Allow people to post comments on new articles” box no longer allows people to comment on pages. Comments on pages, if desired, must be enabled in each individual page editor.

Could it be a theme issue?

No. It’s not dependent upon the theme used.
