Making my site public

  I made my site private while it was under construction. I made it public yesterday. I can access it even when I’m not connected to WordPress, so technically it is public. But, when I try to share it on Facebook, the link says that it is still private. How can I fix this?

  See the response by staff member rachelmcr on the topic How to change privacy setting. She said:

  …Facebook tends to save or cache information about blogs, and it can take some time for Facebook to update the information about your blog that it posts when you share links to your blog there.

  One way to help Facebook update its cache faster is to enter the link in its debugger here:

  https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

  I entered the link in the debugger yesterday and it still doesn’t work. When I try to share an article on Facebook, it’s fine. But when I try to share the home page, the link says that the site is private.

  Hi, no worries. You would just need to put the homepage URL into that debugger (instead of the URL for a post or other page), and then click Scrape again.

  I’ve done that and confirmed I can now post the site on my Facebook, with its image and all. I hope that helps.
