Making pages a different colour in Forefront theme

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m a poet and am in the process of building a site to promote my work. I am using the Forefront theme and was wondering if there is a way to make the pages on which I display my poems a different colour – by which I mean the pages themselves, not the background to the pages. Black print on a plain white background looks a little stark and unappealing. I am happy to pay for an upgraid if necessary, but would want to be sure beforehand that it will allow me to do what I want

    Hi there,

You can indeed customize the color of the pages (not just the background color), using the Custom Design upgrade. If you want to give it a try before buying the upgrade, you can do that by going to Appearance > Customize in your dashboard. Once you have the Customizer open, you can preview the Custom Design upgrade features there.

You can go to the Colors section to see what built-in options are available for Custom Colors. If you want to customize the colors in your theme even further, you can do that with Custom CSS. We even have a CSS Customization forum that’s specifically for getting help customizing your site using CSS:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization/

You can post in that forum for additional customization help, and the expert staff and volunteers can give you a hand. If you’re new to CSS, we also have tips for getting started with it here:

Please let me know if I can provide any further help with this. :)

    Dear Rachelmcr,
Many thanks for your prompt reply. I’ve followed your very clear instructions, but found that the features of the custom design upgrade that are available for preview do not seem to include the ability to make the pages a different colour, only the background. I’m sure you’re right that this is possible, but, as mentioned before, am reluctant invest without being knowing for certain. I should also mention that I have no knowledge of CSS or HTML, so I would need a way to do this that’s simple and straightforward. So, do you know if there is somewhere I can find a detailed and comprehensive description of what the upgrade allows you to do before I purchase it? Or, have I missed something when using the preview. Thanking you in advance for your help,

    Alan.

    Hi Alan,

I should also mention that I have no knowledge of CSS or HTML, so I would need a way to do this that’s simple and straightforward. So, do you know if there is somewhere I can find a detailed and comprehensive description of what the upgrade allows you to do before I purchase it?

You can read a full description of what’s included in this upgrade here: Custom Design

The change you want is possible, but it will take CSS (part of the custom design upgrade) to do it. If you’re not interested in dealing with CSS, that probably isn’t the best solution for you. However, you can also get help with CSS if you’d like from the expert staff and volunteers in our CSS forum:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization/

Please let me know if you have any other questions about that. :)
