making the site private
-
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
I tried to follow the instructions from this page, but the privacy menu they describe doesn’t exist.http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
These instructions don’t work either.I’d like to keep the blog private for a few people, but completely unsearchable from search engines based on any words that appear in the blog.
I’m also open to instructions on how to delete the blog entirely.
All help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If you want to make it private, those are the settings. Settings->Privacy->Set as private. What are you seeing on that page if not the option to set the blog to private?

hi raincoaster. thanks for your fast reply.
from the dashboard of the blog I want to make private, there’s the Settings button in the left-hand column menu.
But in the Settings menu, there are only two options: Sharing and Polls.
Sharing is about connecting my blog to social media accounts (like facebook, twitter, etc). Polls is about inserting polldaddy.com polls into my blog posts.

That means you are not an Admin of the blog. Only an Admin can make changes like that. You must be an Editor or Contributor.

issue solved! you were right. I just needed to ask my admin for their login info.
thanks for your help, raincoaster!
