malware infected site

I have been informed by Google that my site has malware and on inspection, I have found some 1218 lines of infected coding. I am an old age pensioner and not technical can anyone help me to remove this malware the lines of infected coding are like /home1/eacweb/public_html/x2engine/js/checklistDropdown/jquery.multiselect.js: SL-JS-GENERIC-rl.UNOFFICIAL FOUND

If I just delete these lines will that get rid of the malware so I can access my WP dashboard to get a plugin to help clean the site? I cannot access the site through the normal WP Login.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as the site is for the members of a small Association of psychological counsellors.

  • Hi there,

We can’t help directly because we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed hosting. As a result we don’t have the ability to take a closer look at your site.

Instead your host uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com.

The good news though is that help is available here at the open-source WordPress forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

Hope this helps point you in the right direction!
