we had a developer do a wordpress site for us, he is hard to get hold of and we are trying to manage the site. Do we need wordpress software on our computer and if so can you send a link for the download please.

Hi there,
Downloading WordPress onto your computer won’t help you, no. The only reason you’d do that is if you wanted to run your own copy of WordPress on a virtual server on your computer for development purposes. It won’t allow you to manage a site that’s already online.
What is the address of the site in question? It sounds like your site has been built using the open source WordPress software. That is something completely different from WordPress.com, and we’re not able to help with such a site as we don’t have any access to or control over it.
For help gaining access to the site you’ll need to contact the hosting provider on whose servers that site is being hosted. And for help with the WordPress software itself you can ask here:
