    Just starting with WordPress. Not sure if I should purchase mapping

    Hi there,

    When you create a site with us we register a free WordPress.com address for you to use for as long as you want, so there’s no need to connect your domain right away if you’re not sure. Take some time to get used to our platform, and then you can make an informed choice.

    If you do decide you want to use a domain you already own somewhere else with your WordPress.com site, you’ll need to upgrade to one of our paid plans. Then you’ll have the option to either leave the domain with your current provider and just connect it to your site with us, or to transfer the domain to us completely so you renew it with us in future. Which of these options you pick is entirely up to you – your domain will work with your site either way.
