Mapping

If I map the WordPress site I have developed to an existing website address that I have, what do I pay? Do I pay my existing web host company as before or pay them and WordPress as well?
Site: https://bramhopevillagehallcom.wordpress.com.
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: Yes -
Hi,
WordPress.com also provides hosting, so you wouldn’t have to pay another company for that service.
If you want to map an existing domain so that it points to bramhopevillagehallcom.wordpress.com, you do need to upgrade to a paid plan. Please check out the options here: https://wordpress.com/plans.I hope that helps!

Unfortunately our existing domain is a .uk domain and I understand that WordPress cannot host an existing .uk domain – only new ones. So does it seem that I would have to pay two separate companies to achieve what I want to do?

It is possible to map or “connect” your .uk domain to a site you set up here on WordPress.com. To do that you can add any of the plans you see here, they all include the domain connection option: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
So does it seem that I would have to pay two separate companies to achieve what I want to do?
In this case that is correct, yes. You would still need to pay the domain registration fees with your original provider, but I want to clarify that we would be your host. So if you pay hosting+registration fees with your current company you would be able to reduce your costs by just paying them for the domain renewals only but otherwise cancel any “hosting” you have with them.
However, as you mention we are not able to take your domain on transfer, so you would ultimately need to pay your website costs here, and your domain costs with the other company.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
