Mapping an existing domain name

Hi, I would like to map an existing domain to WordPress.com, however the customer requests that the current site with the same domain mustn’t be affected and to be running at the same while the new WordPress site is being created. I am concerned that the mapping will affect the operation of the current site while the new site is being created.

It isn’t possible to have a domain name pointing to two sites at the same time.
What you’ll want to do is set up the new WordPress.com site using the default ______.wordpress.com URL. And then once everything is ready to go, make the switch by mapping the domain to the new site using these instructions:
