Mapping Domains for Personal Plan
-
I am transferring my site from self-hosted WP to WP.com. I have taken the steps to export content and then import content onto my new free plan site.
The next thing I want to do is upgrade to the personal plan, and then map the domain of my self-hosted site to this new WP.com site.
The problem is when I try and do this I’m getting charged for a Premium plan, even though I was assured that you can map a domain with personal plans.
Please help me map my domain for my personal plan.

Hi Darnel,
I can. When I do it goes straight to cart, so I’m worried that I’ll purchase it and be unable to map it.
Will I be able to map the domain for free once I purchase the personal plan?
-
Yes, the personal plan comes with a domain credit that you can use to either register a new domain or map a domain you already own elsewhere. You take care of the mapping after purchasing the plan, so no worries.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

I don’t know if you did something on your end, but the personal plan with the free domain credit just became available.
I’ve purchased it, but now I have to update my DNS settings because the mapped domain still points to my self-hosted site.
Will let you know if I need extra help.
Thanks a bunch! :)

Hi Darnell,
The domain mapping was successful, my only remaining question is on redirecting the URLs of my posts, as they had a different permalink structure on WP.org.
Thanks

Correction, everything is in order.
It seems like the URLs modified themselves. Pretty awesome.
Thanks again for your help :)
