mapping my domain from wordpress to squarespace

  I want to map my domain from wordpress to squarespace. My wordspace domain name is http://thatwhichispossible.com. In looking through the various wordpress support threads I was able to find about doing so, it seems that the “happiness engineers” have just been mapping the domain names on an as-requested basis. See, for example, this thread:

  You can set your A records to point to squarespace following the instructions here:

  Point a Domain to an External IP Address

  Please note, your domain will still be registered with WordPress.com although it will be pointed elsewhere.

  Hi Rootjosh, Thanks for your response. The page you suggested about Setting Custom A Records is a bit different from what I get when I click on Edit Domain>Edit DNS in my Store. Instead of Edit DNS Record as shown on the support page you suggested, I get Add New DNS Record. With A in the drop down box, I try to have thatwhichispossible.com “points to” 198.185.159.135 (the IP address provided by squarespace). When I click on Add, I get the message: “This record cannot be added, as it conflicts with an existing WordPress.com record.” I can do the above if I add www to my domain name, but I would prefer to map thatwhichispossible.com to squarespace, without www. Any suggestions?

  No worries.

  I have made those changes and I am now seeing thatwhichispossible.com point to squarespace.

  It can take 24-48 hours for domain/DNS changes to propagate throughout the internet. It typically happens faster than that, but it really depends on your ISPs update frequency. If you are still not seeing the correct site appear after 48 hours has elapsed, please contact me again.
