Mapping to Domain, $13/year?

I am trying to set up an account for a client who already owns a domain name. When I enter the information into the bar, it says that it costs $13/year to do so. However when I continue, it asks me to enter credit card information for a premium account for $99/year. Wondering how I can connect a page to an existing domain for the $13/year without the premium account. Thanks for the help.

You can no longer register or map a domain individually with WordPress.com. Moving forward, domain subscriptions can be purchased as a part of one of our many plans here. This recent domains with plans only update was made as we continue to work diligently to provide the best WordPress.com experience for both users who choose to purchase a plan as well as those who choose the free plan.
Our personal plan ($36) is a great option for those who primarily want to register or map a domain with us. In addition to the domain subscriptions, you also get no ads on your site and access to live chat support with our wonderful Happiness Engineers. You do not have to purchase the Premium $99 plan in order to map a domain.
If you look over the plans that we offer and do not think they are the best fit, purchasing and setting up a self-hosted WordPress.org site through reliable hosts such as Flywheel, Siteground, Pressable, and Bluehost is also a great option.
