Mapping Versus Domain Transfer

  Hi There – We purchased our url DuxandBoomer.com through GoDaddy – we would like to keep it there and use WordPress to create our own website (as opposed to hiring a third-party web developer) for DuxandBoomer.com – As we started set-up there was a fork in the road when it comes to ‘transfer’ versus ‘mapping’ domain name. Please advise. Thank you

  You can keep everything at GoDaddy if you wish by setting up a site using the WordPress.org software there.
  If you want to create a site here at WordPress.com but don’t want to move your domain then you need not transfer it here, you would set up domain mapping. That would involve purchasing an upgraded plan here at WordPress.com.
