media – link settings
-
Up until today I could through link settings connect a link to an image in a post.
From today the possibility of a link, menu option link settings is not available anymore.
Did I do something or is this an update issue?
In the future I would like very much to be able to give a link to my images in a post. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @truckhuis, are you using wordpress.com/post for this or wp-admin’s posting page? Do you experience the same issue in both?
Noting too, these forums are for the free sites using our managed hosting service, which can be quite different from running your own WordPress installation at another host. If you’re asking about our editor at WordPress.com/post, we can help with that, otherwise, here’s a link to the correct forums for self-managed sites:

I don’t see anything that would be causing this problem as described.
First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these two things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.
2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

I updated my windows version.
I updated my browser
I tried another browser
I cleared the browser’s cache and cookies
and as last I disabled extensions and add-ons
but nothing helped, still no link settings -

BrowseHappy informs you of the latest versions, but it doesn’t check your browser’s version.
Follow this guide to make sure that Chrome is up to date: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95414

Are you using the editor at WordPress.com ->My Site ->Site ->Posts, or the editor at WP-Admin ->Posts to create/edit your posts?
And are you using the block editor or the classic editor?

By the way
I got this message:
PHP is the programming language used to build and maintain WordPress. Newer versions of PHP are faster and more secure, so staying up to date will help your site’s overall performance and security. The minimum recommended version of PHP is 7.3.Has this anything to do with my issue

Ok, since you’re operating under wp-admin, won’t be able to help you with this site.
Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with Bluehost.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
