Media month and year folder

  I just signed up for a free wordpress website. I need to have the uploaded files not be in folders for month and year. This website says that I should be able to go to settings-media-and then uncheck box to “organize media into month and year”

  So, I do not have this checkbox when I go to settings-media. Do I have to upgrade my account to stop the saving of media into month and year folders?

  So if I want ftp access on wordpress.com it bumps up to $33/month plan or I can have dreamhost do it for $4.95/month and get ftp access. Is there a cheaper way to keep my small simple account on wordpress.com and have ftp access?

  Free sites here at WordPress.com are limited to what they can do with the WordPress software; in certain cases we require an upgrade to access additional functionality. Other hosts typically don’t have those same restrictions, but you also lose other benefits of being hosted with us. You can review the page here to find out more about the differences:

  In your case, to have FTP/SFTP/SSH access, you need to upgrade to the Business plan or higher which is the $33/month plan. There isn’t a cheaper plan here that will give you that access.
