membership websites for user who don’t want a wordpress account

    Can I create a membership website where users sign in using their email address rather than requiring a WordPress account? I’m not trying to do anything sophisticated, this is for a community organisation and members are not all that tech-savvy, not likely to set up a new account. We just want to be able to set up a database of existing members with their basic information (name, email, general location) and automatically generate emails to them for communications (new newsletter, subscription reminder). Don’t even need to process subscription payments via the site.
    What information fields are available as standard when storing member data?

    Hi there,

    You can, but that will require a membership plugin, and those can only be used on our Business Plan:

    On the free plan, the only way to do this is using a private site, and for someone to view a private site they need to have their own WordPress.com username account:

    Thanks for your reply. I was planning to upgrade to the Premium plan once I get things running, I don’t think the organisation will want the extra cost of the Business plan given we don’t need the other high-end features. Oh well.
