Menu Limit

Hi, I seem to have reached a menu limit of 10! I have written an extra page which simply disappears when I publish it – it turns up on Twitter and is referenced deep in the wp-admin section of the site but it doesn’t appear in menus. Note: even when I delete one of the current posts, my new page doesn’t take its place in the menu – the menu just shrinks to 9, 8, 7 etc. I am using the Wilson theme, as I have been for the last two years.

I have been using your site as an educational resource for my students for years. This is the first time I have come across this problem and I am only presented with gobble-di-gook about hosts, servers and phps when I try to google it. This is way beyond my knowledge or expertise. I just need my maximum number of menu items reset, please. I love the WordPress site and I would be bitterly disappointed to have to switch out to blogger or some other inferior product.

    Best regards,

    Ned Brickley.

There is no limit of 10 items in a custom menu. One can have up to 88 pages and sub pages.

I’m tagging this thread for a Staff confirmation of what I posted as it is possible that has changed but I doubt that it has.

  • it turns up on Twitter

Are you sure this was a page and not a post? Usually pages won’t publish out to Twitter automatically, but posts will. And you do have one post that was published recently.

Posts won’t show up automatically on any menus, though they will show up in categories if you have that set up.

    Hi,

    Many thanks for your reply.

That’s very interesting: this is the first time ANY of my posts/pages have been published to Twitter but I’m not aware of having done anything different; this might be worth investigating.

This is what my front page looks like (photoshopped face, lol):

Normally, anything I write is just added to the menu on the left, but not my latest post/page. Do you think I’ve accidentally tried to add a new post when I should have added a new PAGE (or vice-versa; I don’t really know the difference)?

I very much appreciate your help!

    Best regards,

    Ned.

    Hi,

Many thanks for your help. Apparently, I was accidentally adding new POSTS, not new pages as I’ve always done.

    All sorted now.

    Best regards,

    Ned Brickley.

  • Ah I’m glad you’ve got it. Cheers!
