Menus not saving

  • Unknown's avatar

When I save my menus, they are not saving. Nor are the custom colors for the theme I’m using. The sidebar has also duplicated entries. It also randomly changed the theme to a different one after I exported to use for local site testing. When I changed the theme back to the correct one, the issues with saving started occurring. I am unsure why.

  • Hi there,

Can you please let me know your site’s address so I can point you in the right direction of getting support?

    Thanks.

    https://oddlittleturtle.wordpress.com is the site.

I’ve had to go back and manually add menus to specific pages so users can navigate information pages. I don’t just use it for blogging so this is very troublesome.

The side bar also contains duplicated info but I’m not sure if that’s a wordpress.com or theme derp.

  • Your menu is saved, but you haven’t assigned any menus to your new theme’s menu locations, which is why they aren’t appearing: https://wordpress.com/support/menus/#menu-display-location

For the sidebar, those are duplicate widgets: https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/

Thank you for taking the time to attempt to help and to provide links.

I’m very sorry. I seem to have miscommunicated. I appear to have used the incorrect terminology.

The menus are not saving onto the site because they will not assign to the menu locations. The locations keep reverting when I click save and thus my initial post: Menus are not saving. I’ve tried it by both methods, drop down menu and from the assignment area at the bottom of the menu itself. The boxes uncheck and the dropdown menus revert to default upon clicking save.

I waited a few days and tried again, but they still will not save when I assign them.

I have not yet attempted to see if the colors revert as well.

As for the duplicate widgets: Yes. I know they are duplicated on the website. I don’t have a way to delete the duplicates on my end. They are not there to delete.

    Troubleshooting I have done:
    I have cleared browser cookies.
    I have switched browsers.
    I have disconnected VPN.
I have disabled all extensions and addons.

This is not occurring with the theme and WP on my local staging.
I am at loss as to what else to do or try.

I’m very sorry. I do not know how to make it clearer than that. I have never had this happen before, and it should not be happening. It did not happen when WP updated on my local staging. Everything is working as it should there.

  • Thank you for all the details!

This seems to be a bug. It has already been reported to our developers, and a fix is on the way, so hopefully, it will be resolved soon.
