Merge accounts

A company created our website and registered a stupid name with WordPress.com – now I would like to unify all our account names across our various platforms.

I want to keep all the stats that are collected in ‘whitweb’ but change its name to ‘whitchurchhants’.

Unfortunately, I stupidly created ’whitchurchhants’ not knowing I could just rename. This account is used for nothing.

So, can you merge these two accounts so I have just 1 called ’whitchurchhants’ with email (email visible only to moderators and staff) ?

    Thank you,

    Hi Andrew,

We don’t actually have a way to merge two WordPress.com accounts. However, since both of your sites are self-hosted WordPress sites, you can actually change the WordPress.com account they are linked to yourself.

From the Jetpack section in your dashboard, you can disconnect Jetpack from your account whitweb and then connect it to your account whitchurchhants. All of your stats will stay intact. (If you do notice anything funny when you make this switch, let me know and I can look into it for you.)

Then, you can adjust the email addresses linked to each account, if you’d like. You can change your account email address on your settings page here: https://wordpress.com/settings/account/

If you want to use the email address currently linked to whitweb with your account whitchurchhants, you’ll need to free it up by changing the email on whitweb to something else. (Each WordPress.com has to use a unique email address.) Then, you can change the email on whitchurchhants to the one you’d like to use.

Please let me know if I can provide any further help with this. :)
