migrate domain from wordpress .com to .org

  Hi

  I am trying to migrate mi domain from wordpress.com to Dreamhost that is a partner of wordpress.org, my objective at the end will be to to migrate the blog i have in .com to .org but i dont know how to do that without migrating my .com domain.

  Please advice.

  panamahipster.com is not registered through WordPress.com, it is just mapped here. Domain Mapping is the upgrade you would purchase if you wanted to use a domain registered elsewhere (GoDaddy or 1and1 for example) with your WordPress.com site.

  In order to point your domain to your new webhost, you will need to log into your account at your domain registrar and change the nameservers to the values that Dreamhost gives you.

  Hi

  Thanks for the advice, I bought the domain in wordpress.com and i can see the DNS options when I click edit, but i still don’t get how to point it to another server.

  Please advice.

  Did you make any changes to your account last week? Cancellation or transfer of that domain?

  Yes i did cancele de domain and then reactivated, do i have to wait some time before I am able to transfer it to another host ?

  It expired first, then i bought it again.

  You did not purchase it again I’m afraid, you just purchased Domain Mapping for it. Domain Mapping is the upgrade you would purchase if you wanted to use a domain registered elsewhere (GoDaddy or 1and1 for example) with your WordPress.com site.

  Domain expiration/cancelation is a fairly long process:

  Domain expiration/cancellation is a fairly long process:

  Recover an Expired or Cancelled Domain

  If you would like, we can try to reverse the cancellation. But you may still be responsible for the $80 redemption fee.
