Migrate from in house server running wordpress to one hosted by wordpress.com.

  We own our own in house server running wordpress, we want to migrate our exisiting domain over to wordpress.com for it to be hosted there. What are the steps we need to take in order for this to happen?

  Register a WP.com blog, whatever URL you want. Then map your custom URL to it via this http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

  Then on your old blog, go to Dashboard->Tools->Export and get an export file. Be sure to get everything. Then on the new blog go to Tools->Import. Check to make sure it all comes over (sometimes you may need to break up the export into chunks by date if it’s large).

  Create an XML export file of blog content and import it into the wordpress.com blog
  Purchase a domain mapping upgrade http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/
