Migrating from wordpress.com

We would like to migrate our account from wordpress.com to another hosting solution. However our currently plan does not allow for any plugins, nor do we get direct access to the database to get a copy of our data. Other than paying for another year to upgrade our plan do we have any other options for migration?

Hi there,
No WordPress.com plan will allow you to do a full database export, as WordPress.com uses a customized version of the WordPress software and our database tables and theme files are not compatible with stand-alone WordPress sites.
You can export all your site’s content – posts, pages, comments, and media files – at My Site ->Settings ->Export, which you can then import via the WP-Admin dashboard on a self-hosted site. But you’ll need to install a new theme to that site, as well as any plugins that you wish to use.
If you want to migrate your subscribers you can do that by installing the Jetpack plugin on the self-hosted site, and we can also move your stats for you on request once you’ve installed Jetpack and connected it to your WordPress.com account.
