migrating from wordpress.com to wordpress.org
-
I would like to move my wordpress.com blog to wordpress.org. I found some support forums that stated that I needed to export my blog then import to my host (netfirms.com). I did do this, but netfirms does not accept the xml file that is generated. In speaking with netfirms they stated that I would need to do a manual installed. Which (according to netfirms) I would need to login via FTP to grab a the files from the wordpress server. Is this correct? if so I how would I login in via FTP? whats the hostname?
thanks

Hi there,
We don’t offer access to FTP for WordPress.com blogs.
You can export your WordPress.com blog by logging into your WordPress.com dashboard and navigating to Tools -> Export.
Then, you can import your WordPress blog by signing into your self-hosted WordPress blog’s dashboard, and visiting Tools -> Import.
If you haven’t installed WordPress at your new host yet, you’ll need to do so first. We can only provide support for blogs hosted here at WordPress.com, but you can find instructions and assistance on installing WordPress on the WordPress.org site:
