Migrating Images from a WP .org site to a WP .com site
-
Hello,
Trying to migrate all posts, comments, and images from a WP .org site over to a WP .com site.
I’m somewhat familiar with the export/import process, but was curious if running an “all content” import followed by a “media” import on a WP .com site, will load all images in the WP .com such that it won’t be dependent on the WP .org site from being up.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I did a little more digging and read that if you just do an “all content” import, the WP .com site will automatically fetch the images from the self-hosted site assuming it is still up.
Is this true?
Estimating there are around 1000 images in the posts, can anyone tell me roughly how long it would take to retrieve/copy/? those images?
At that point, can I shut down the self-hosted site? Thanks.
