Migrating images from self-hosted WordPress to WordPress.com
-
I’m trying to migrate rom a self-hosted WP install (wildebeestdiaries.com) to a site hosted on WP.com (wildebeestdiaries.wordpress.com). I imported my sim content using the WP export/import tools, but my images are still hosted on my original domain, and linked to with code like this:
How can I move these images over to the new wildebeestdiaries.wordpress.com site?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Howdy –
Thanks for getting in touch. I’m going to take a deeper look at the media files and then report back.
Are you planning to connect the domain wildebeestdiaries.com to your WordPress.com free site?

Thank you. I don’t know about transferring the domain yet. At the moment, I just want to see if I can run the site on WordPress.com, as the self-hosted way is becoming too high an overhead.
The weird thing is, I thought I had seen a WordPress importer where it offered to copy the media files over for you… Maybe that was an older version, or only on a self-hosted install or something…?
PS – I see that the forum software has added in this line at the bottom: “The blog I need help with is andrewsleigh.wordpress.com.” That’s not true. I’m talking about wildebeestdiaries.wordpress.com

In this case it is the reference links that didn’t come over correctly. The images are there, just the refs are messed up. I need help from a developer to fix it. Will be in touch once we get things straightened out :)
