Migrating server to WP where I have an existing site?

    Hi all!

    I have my blog with WP and my shop with Shopify (which is linked to via my blog), and my domain is currently hosted elsewhere.

    I need to migrate servers because my current server does not have an updated version of PHP, which I require for all my plugins and recent updates.

    Am I able to use WP as a server as well as for my blog? How would I go about doing this?

    Please help! Thank you! :)

    Hi there,

    Do you want to migrate your blog, or your Shopify store? And do you want to specifically migrate to WordPress.com, or just to another host? Can you give a link to the site in question?

    We have a detailed guide on how to migrate the content from an existing site to WordPress.com here:

    Note that only your site content can be migrated to us. To use plugins and third-party themes you’d need to be on our Business Plan, but you’d have to install and reconfigure those manually on our end once you’ve created a new site with us, as we don’t offer FTP access so it’s not possible to just upload a complete site to our servers.

    If you just want to migrate to another WordPress host with updated PHP, first select a host, and then find out if that host doesn’t already have a process in place to handle this type of migration for you. Many hosting providers that specialise in WordPress hosting do.
