Migrating Site

Good day! I would like to reconstruct my existing WordPress site (under business plan) using externally bought themes. But I’m worrying that installing the new themes might cause problems to my site. I have to refer to the old contents in building my new site. Is there a way that works in which my old site is still LIVE to public but at the same time I can work on my new site design based on the existing contents? Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

What is the site you wish to upgrade? The site at http://findmikedesigns.wordpress.com/ is completely empty.

What you essentially need is a staging environment – an offline copy of your site where you can make changes and then sync it to the live site. Unfortunately we don’t offer something like that on WordPress.com.

But the Customizer has a built in feature where you can preview a theme in the Customizer and set it up there, saving changes as a draft in the Customizer, and those changes only become live once you publish them.

I’m not sure if that will work with third-party themes, though, but once you buy the Business Plan you’ll have access to live chat support where we can then chat about exactly what you want to do and look at the available options.
