Migrating Site to WordPress

    How do I import my website not hosted or built in WordPress to my WordPress account/website? I have all files locally.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

    By files, I assume you mean hard-coded HTML files? The only way to “import” those is manually, by copy-pasting the content into new posts and pages on your WordPress.com site.

    In order to import content to WordPress.com you need a WordPress.com compatible export generated by another content management system. If your website was not created through a CMS, it means you won’t have such an export file.

    We don’t provide FTP access on WordPress.com, so there’s no way to upload the files directly to our servers, and even if we did, you wouldn’t be able to upload files that didn’t themselves come from a WordPress site to start with.
