Migrating to self-hosted: user accounts?

We are planning to migrate from wordpress.com-hosted blog to self-hosting wordpress on our server, using the export function. However, we would like to let the same users login to the new migrated blog via their wordpress.com/gravatar user accounts (perhaps, via OAuth, OpenID or similar protocol.) Is this possible? If not, is there a possibility of migrating user accounts from a wordpress.com blog to a self-hosted wordpress blog?

Hi there,
Install the Jetpack plugin on the new site, and connect it to your WordPress.com account. Then in Jetpack security settings, make sure you enable the WordPress.com login option, and enable the email matching setting there. Then use the WordPress.com ->Manage ->People option to invite the users to the new blog, and they should be able to accept the invitation and log in there using their WordPress.com accounts.
However, note that this depends on them accepting the invitation to the new site. You cannot transfer user accounts from WordPress.com to a self-hosted site.
Also note that if you want their content to still be attributed to them on the new site, it would be best to add them as users on the new site before you import the content, else that content might get assigned to your admin user on the new site automatically.
