Migration issues

    I have recently decided to migrate to a self hosted wordpress site. Following the wordpress ‘guide to migrating my site’ has resulted in half of my blog not being transferred. I understood that there would be limitations to the migration service to do with themes and widgets but nowhere was it mentioned that this limitation also applied to multiple years of content.
    Is there anyway I can get a full backup of my blog? this is years of time and energy that I felt assured would not be lost.
